Real name of Harold David Meriable and I never knew that until today. I knew David close to forty-five years and he was only David to me or "Marbles", the nick name that I think Jess Paul Tomey gave to him.
Welcome to my journal where I share some of my knowledge, memories and feelings of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, the town where friends and I grew up. I also write PayneStakings which tends to be more personal than Pawhuska Trails. This material is copyrighted by Stevie Joe Payne; contact the writer for permission to use.
If you contact me by e-mail, I will do my best to respond.
I grew up in Pawhuska during the 1950's and a touch of the 1960's. I have written the book "Pawhuska Kids' Stuff" about those memories. I photograph Pawhuska and its citizens when I can. The town stays in one spot; its citizens, especially those who have moved on, do not and are more difficult to photograph. Still, I capture many of them with my lens. I capture many things with my words.
Spanish is my second language and I have been speaking it for about twenty years. I have two Associate of Arts degrees in Spanish from Tulsa Community College.
